Scorpio & Nettle

Scorpio gets the fun job of taking out the trash. In medical astrology, it is associated with the bowels- intestines, colon, rectum- & any process that involves eliminating waste or by-products from the body, including through the skin, kidneys, bladder, lungs, nose & sweat glands. As a water sign, it is also connected to our emotions, & how they find an outlet.

With it's duality of death & rebirth, Scorpio also rules over the reproductive organs. It is the guardian of our most hidden parts, the 'nether regions', where life is created. It is where we see transformation occur, both decay & regeneration. These also tend to be areas with the most shame attached.

Scorpio dances between resistance & release. It's fixed nature gives it a natural capacity to sustain, to focus, to handle great pressure. Sometimes this tenacity can have Scorpio enduring situations that are harmful, toxic, or simply not allowing any room for growth. Answering the call for change is vital, or that Plutonian energy can unconsciously magnetise it's own ego death in an effort to free itself.

To support Scorpio anatomy, we focus on ways to keep the channels of elimination open & support the body's clearing processes. When the body is not eliminating properly, it can show up as constipation/ diarrhoea, IBS/ IBD, acne & skin conditions, UTI's, fibroids, endometriosis, PMS, PMDD, bacterial or yeast infections, & mood swings.

Eating foods that support healthy bowel movements is important, especially for those with Scorpio placements in their natal charts. This might include fibre rich foods as well as prebiotics & probiotics. Moving the body so we can eliminate through sweat & the lungs is also great, as well as prioritising emotional expression so that we can move through stuck energy.

I love Nettle for Scorpio support. Traditionally considered a blood cleanser, it supports detoxification through the kidneys, liver & lymphatic system. It's a very giving herb, high in minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium & magnesium; vitamins A, B's & C; & it's also a great source of chlorophyll. It is considered a fertility aid for both women & men- as a uterus tonic & it also supports the prostate.

Nettle is a prime herb if you are suffering from seasonal allergies, as it is a natural antihistamine. It's also great for breastfeeding mamas for increasing milk supply. Nettle, just like Scorpios, once you get past their prickly exterior, their is a great depth of support & abundance that they offer.
